Job Description
This internship offers undergraduate students the opportunity to work with professional engineers on planning and designing municipal water and wastewater infrastructure projects, gaining hands-on experience in engineering calculations, research, and report preparation during a summer program.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide planning and design support for municipal and water wastewater infrastructure projects
- Assist with materials and code requirements research
- Perform design calculations and prepare reports and specifications
- Estimate project costs and quantities
- Collaborate with Professional Engineers and Technicians on project tasks
Requirements
- Be an undergraduate student with a strong interest in Water Wastewater, Municipal Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or Biosystems Engineering.
- Availability to work 40 hours per week with occasional overtime throughout the summer of 2026 from mid-May through mid-August.
- Ability to work primarily from the office in Bloomington, MN or an assigned project site, with potential for flexible hybrid work arrangements.
- Ability to assist with planning and design support for municipal and water wastewater infrastructure projects including underground utilities, storm sewer and drainage systems, wastewater collection and treatment, drinking water supply and distribution, street design, and multi-use trail systems.
- Ability to assist with materials and code requirements research, design calculations, cost and quantity estimates, and preparation of reports and specifications.
- Willingness to participate in a structured internship program that includes formal software trainings, networking opportunities, mentorship, social events, and learning seminars.
- Upon acceptance of a conditional offer, the candidate must complete a standard pre-employment background screening, including Social Security verification, educational verification, review of criminal convictions, and driving history.
