Job Description
This internship offers undergraduate students the opportunity to work with professional engineers on water and wastewater infrastructure projects, gaining hands-on experience in planning, design, calculations, and report preparation within a structured summer program.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide planning and design support for municipal water and wastewater infrastructure projects
- Assist with materials and code requirements research
- Perform design calculations and prepare cost and quantity estimates
- Contribute to the preparation of reports and specifications
Requirements
- Be an undergraduate student with a strong interest in Water Wastewater, Municipal Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or Biosystems Engineering.
- Availability to work 40 hours per week with occasional overtime throughout the summer of 2026 from mid-May through mid-August.
- Able to work primarily from the office in Bloomington, MN or an assigned project site, with the possibility of flexible hybrid work arrangements.
- Able to assist with planning and design support for municipal and water wastewater infrastructure projects including underground utilities, storm sewer and drainage systems, wastewater collection and treatment, drinking water supply and distribution, street design, and multi-use trail systems.
- Capable of assisting with materials and code requirements research, design calculations, cost and quantity estimates, and preparation of reports and specifications.
- Able to complete a standard pre-employment background screening, including Social Security verification, educational verification, review of criminal convictions, and driving history, upon acceptance of a conditional offer of employment.
