Job Description
The Construction Engineer Manager oversees airport construction projects, ensuring quality, safety, and adherence to plans while coordinating with contractors and stakeholders, and supporting project development and planning activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee construction operations at airports to ensure activities align with plans and specifications
- Collaborate with contractors and airport or airline representatives to review and address construction issues
- Inspect construction activities to ensure quality standards and code compliance
- Serve as on-site technical and safety representative during construction projects
- Prepare and present status reports, negotiate change orders, and resolve construction and design challenges
- Determine material specifications, coordinate material testing, and conduct surveys and measurements for payment
- Assist or guide construction inspectors and log observation activities
- Develop proposals, estimate project budgets and schedules, and conduct constructability reviews of plans
Requirements
- Possess a minimum of 5 years of experience overseeing construction operations at airports, including projects such as runways, taxiways, aprons, utilities, roadways, NAVAIDS, fueling facilities, and security enhancements.
- Have the ability to ensure that day-to-day construction activities are consistent with the plans and specifications for multiple projects at various airports.
- Demonstrate experience collaborating with contractors and airport and/or airline representatives to review and provide input on construction issues and inspect activities in accordance with quality standards and code requirements.
- Be capable of serving as an on-site advisor by attending pre-construction and progress meetings, providing routine technical and safety representation, preparing and presenting status reports, negotiating change orders, and resolving construction and design challenges.
- Have the ability to determine desired material specifications, coordinate material testing, conduct surveys, measure quantities for payment, log and photograph observation and construction activities, and assist or provide guidance to construction inspectors.
- Possess the skills to assist with the development of proposals, estimate project budgets and schedules, and conduct constructability reviews of project plans.
- Complete and pass all background and security requests required by state and federal agencies responsible for aviation operations as a condition of employment, including Social Security verification, educational verification, review of criminal convictions, and driving history.
