Job Description
The 2026 Summer Intern position involves supporting structural engineering projects for railroads, including site assessments, design calculations, cost estimates, and developing designs using AutoCAD, providing a comprehensive view of the project lifecycle from conception to construction.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to support structural engineering projects for railroads.
- Conduct site assessments for various structural projects.
- Prepare design calculations for structural components.
- Develop construction cost estimates.
- Contribute to the development of preliminary and final structural designs using AutoCAD and other design tools.
- Engage in multiple stages of project lifecycle from conception to construction to gain practical experience.
Requirements
- Candidates must be an undergraduate pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis.
- Candidates must be available to work 40 hours per week with occasional overtime throughout the summer of 2026 from mid-May through mid-August.
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Candidates must be able to complete and pass any background, security, and drug test requests required by TKDA, clients, and state and/or federal agencies.
