Job Description
The Real Estate Counsel will lead lease negotiations and provide legal support for the development of renewable energy projects, focusing on drafting and negotiating solar leases, easements, and related agreements while ensuring legal compliance and aligning with business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft and negotiate solar leases, SNDAs, easements, and memos of lease.
- Provide legal advice to the Business Development team and leadership.
- Manage lease negotiations with REITs and property owners.
- Support project development in the renewable energy sector.
- Balance legal compliance, risk management, and business objectives in transactions.
Requirements
- The candidate must be an agile lawyer capable of quarterbacking lease negotiations with many of the world's largest REITs and other commercial and industrial property owners.
- The candidate must have experience supporting project development in the renewable energy sector.
- The candidate must have experience drafting and negotiating solar leases, SNDAs (Subordination, Non-Disturbance, and Attornment agreements), easements, and memos of lease.
- The candidate must be able to provide critical legal advice to the Business Development team and company leadership.
- The candidate must be a proactive legal professional who thrives in a collaborative environment involving multiple departments such as development, construction, financing, operation, and ownership of commercial and community solar assets.
- The candidate must have the ability to balance legal compliance, risk management, and company business objectives effectively.
