Job Description
The Real Estate Counsel will lead lease negotiations and provide legal support for solar project development, focusing on drafting and negotiating leases, easements, and related agreements while ensuring legal compliance and risk management across various departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft and negotiate solar leases, SNDAs, easements, and memos of lease.
- Provide legal advice to the Business Development team and leadership.
- Manage lease negotiations with REITs and property owners.
- Support project development in the renewable energy sector.
- Balance legal compliance, risk management, and business objectives.
Requirements
- The candidate must be an agile lawyer capable of quarterbacking lease negotiations with many of the world’s largest REITs and other commercial and industrial property owners.
- The candidate must have experience supporting project development in the renewable energy sector.
- The candidate must have experience drafting and negotiating solar leases, SNDAs (Subordination, Non-Disturbance, and Attornment agreements), easements, and memos of lease.
- The candidate must be able to provide critical legal advice to the Business Development team and leadership.
- The role requires a proactive legal professional who will thrive in a collaborative environment involving multiple departments such as development, construction, financing, operation, and ownership of commercial and community solar assets.
- The candidate must have the ability to effectively balance legal compliance, risk management, and company business objectives.
