Job Description
The Solar PV Operations and Maintenance Technician II is responsible for performing maintenance, testing, and repair of electrical systems in solar energy facilities, ensuring safe and efficient operation of solar power assets in the West Tennessee region.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on substation, UPS, battery backup, and SCADA systems.
- Conduct corrective maintenance and repairs on electrical systems.
- Perform electrical testing using industry-standard equipment.
- Assist with field investigations to support predictive analytics and root cause analysis.
- Provide electrical expertise and mentoring to junior technicians.
- Create and review maintenance SOPs, schedules, and checklists.
- Manage site access and oversee third-party contractors.
- Support additional tasks such as module washing and land management.
Requirements
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance tasks on the facility, including substation, UPS, battery backup, and SCADA systems.
- Perform corrective maintenance and repair work on substation, UPS, battery back-up, and SCADA systems as directed.
- Generate reports as required by the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
- Perform testing using IV Curve Tracers, Power Quality Meters, Insulation Resistance Testers, Multimeters, and other equipment as needed.
- Assist management with field investigations to support predictive analytics, root cause analysis, and serial defect reports.
- Provide subject matter expertise and mentoring to Solar Operations & Maintenance Technician I in electrical systems and electrical safety.
- Assist in creating and reviewing preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance SOPs, schedules, and checklists.
- Provide site access and oversight of third-party contractors as needed.
- Assist with module washing, land management, and other tasks as directed.
- Attend equipment training as directed.
- Possess basic skills with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat Reader.
- Hold a valid Driver’s License.
- Have a working knowledge of NEC, NFPA70E, and OSHA standards.
- Possess OSHA 10 certification.
- Be able to perform localized travel of up to 2 hours each way (note: the first and last hour of daily driving travel is not paid and is considered normal commute time).
- Have a High School Diploma or GED.
- Have at least 3 years of experience as an electrician, maintenance electrician, or completion of a recognized apprenticeship program.
- Experience in solar installation or maintenance is highly desirable.
- Experience with MV HV systems, IT systems, Inverters, T D systems, Substations, or other specialized electrical systems is highly desirable.
- Electrical construction and/or commissioning experience is desirable.
