Job Description
A Solar PV Operations and Maintenance Technician II responsible for performing scheduled and corrective maintenance, testing, and site oversight of solar energy facilities, primarily focusing on electrical systems and safety protocols in the East Tennessee region.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on substation, UPS, battery backup, and SCADA systems.
- Perform corrective maintenance and repairs on electrical systems and components.
- Conduct electrical testing using industry-standard equipment such as IV Curve Tracers and Power Quality Meters.
- Assist with field investigations to support predictive analytics and root cause analysis.
- Provide electrical expertise and mentoring to junior technicians.
- Create and review maintenance SOPs, schedules, and checklists.
- Oversee site access and coordinate with third-party contractors.
- Support tasks such as module washing and land management as directed.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- 3 years of experience as an electrician, maintenance electrician, or the completion of a recognized apprenticeship program
- Basic skills with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat Reader
- Valid Driver's License
- Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA70E, and OSHA standards
- Ability to perform localized travel of up to 2 hours each way
- Experience in the safe planning and performance of electrical tasks within DC, AC, and MV systems
- Experience performing basic electrical testing using industry standard practices, including IV Curve Tracers, Power Quality Meters, Insulation Resistance Testers, Multimeters, and other equipment as needed
- Ability to perform scheduled preventative maintenance tasks on facilities including substation, UPS, battery backup, and SCADA systems
- Ability to perform corrective maintenance and repair work on substation, UPS, battery backup, and SCADA systems
- Ability to generate reports as required by the SOP
- Assist management with field investigations to support predictive analytics, root cause analysis, and serial defect reports
- Provide subject matter expertise and mentoring to Solar O M Technician I in electrical systems and electrical safety
- Assist in creating and reviewing preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance SOPs, schedules, and checklists
- Provide site access and oversight of third-party contractors as needed
- Assist with module washing, land management, and other tasks as directed
