A Solar Maintenance Technician II responsible for performing corrective and preventative maintenance on solar PV facilities, including electrical and mechanical repairs, troubleshooting, and site management tasks to ensure optimal system performance.
Key Responsibilities
Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on solar PV systems, UPS, SCADA, substation, and MV HV OHE systems
Perform corrective maintenance and respond to emergency dispatches for critical systems
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and mechanical components such as contactors, breakers, motors, bearings, PV modules, PLCs, and transformers
Conduct electrical testing using specialized equipment like IV Curve Tracers, Power Quality Meters, and Multimeters
Assist with field investigations to support predictive analytics, root cause analysis, and defect reporting
Provide site access to third-party contractors and support site tasks such as land management, module washing, and vegetation management
Log all maintenance work in the CMMS platform
Attend training sessions to enhance technical skills and safety knowledge
Requirements
High School Diploma or GED
3 years of experience in the electrical trade, electrical maintenance, multicraft maintenance, or the completion of a recognized apprenticeship program
Intermediate skills with computers and electronic equipment
Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat
Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA70E, and OSHA standards
Valid Driver's License
OSHA 30 must be obtained within 4 weeks of employment
CPR BLS must be obtained within 4 weeks of employment
Ability to perform localized travel of up to 2 hours each way
Perform scheduled preventive maintenance tasks at each facility, including the full PV system, UPS, SCADA, substation, and MV HV OHE systems
Perform corrective maintenance tasks, both scheduled and unscheduled, at each facility, including the full PV system, UPS, SCADA, substation, and MV HV OHE systems
Respond to directives for emergency dispatches for critical systems as directed
Log all work performed via the Silicon Ranch CMMS platform
Perform electrical testing using IV Curve Tracers, Power Quality Meters, Insulation Resistance Testers, Multimeters, and other testing equipment as needed
Assist management with field investigations to support predictive analytics, root cause analysis, and serial defect reports
Provide site access to third party contractors and as directed
Assist with other site tasks, including land management, module washing, and vegetation management as directed
Must be able to work outside in most weather conditions
Must be able to stand for long periods of time
Must be able to lift 50 pounds
Experience performing maintenance tasks on DC, AC, and MV systems, communications equipment, and mechanical systems
Experience with MV HV systems, IT systems, inverters, T D systems, substations, or other specialized electrical systems (desired)
Working knowledge of electrical systems and safety standards relevant to solar operations (implied by the need for electrical trade experience)
