A software intern role focused on developing AI-driven data systems, computer vision pipelines, and autonomous workflows to support battery research and development at a next-generation battery materials company.
Key Responsibilities
Build and deploy autonomous AI agents to automate experimental management and data analysis
Develop automated pipelines for characterization techniques such as SEM to extract features and detect defects
Create data pipelines for handling large-scale, high-frequency battery datasets using advanced frameworks
Support backend pipeline development, including FastAPI tools and internal dashboards for AI-driven insights
Requirements
Currently enrolled in a Ph.D. program in Computer Science, Materials Science, or a related field, with a preference for MSc degree holders.
Mastery of Python scientific libraries including NumPy, SciPy, and Pandas.
Expert-level experience with high-performance frameworks such as Polars, Vaex, or Dask for handling massive datasets.
Experience building agentic workflows using tools like LangGraph, CrewAI, and utilizing cloud-native AI functions such as Snowflake Cortex.
Proficiency in OpenCV or deep learning-based image segmentation techniques such as SAM for material characterization.
Strong proficiency in building production-ready code, including experience with Kubernetes (K8s), Docker, and CI/CD pipelines.
Basic understanding of Li-ion battery chemistry, materials processing, and electrochemical testing.
Proficiency in using AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Copilot, and Git-based collaboration tools.

Compensation/salary range: $25/hr to $39/hr, depending on education, experience, and skills
