Job Description
The Maintenance Mechanics at Sila are responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of manufacturing equipment through troubleshooting, repairs, preventive maintenance, and collaboration with the production team in a high-tech battery materials manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections, lubrication, and adjustments of equipment
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues
- Collaborate with production teams to optimize machinery efficiency and quality
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, repair records, and parts inventories using CMMS
- Follow safety protocols, including LOTO procedures, and ensure compliance with standards
- Respond promptly to breakdowns and urgent repair needs to restore operations
- Assist with installation and testing of new equipment or system upgrades
- Work with engineers, machine operators, and other mechanics to resolve issues and plan maintenance
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational training or certifications in mechanics, industrial maintenance, or a related field preferred.
- Proven experience as a maintenance mechanic in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, and gearboxes.
- Basic knowledge of electrical systems, including wiring, motors, and PLC troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with tools, diagnostic equipment, and blueprints or schematics.
- Knowledge of safety standards and regulations, including lockout tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to work flexible schedules, including shifts, weekends, and overtime as needed.
- Pass a respirator fit test and be able to wear respiratory protection on a daily basis.
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment including a lab coat, gloves, safety glasses, and steel toe safety shoes.
- Ability to move items up to 50 lbs with the assistance of lift equipment and carts.
- Ability to move long distances such as from building to building and be stationary for extended periods of time.
- Ability to reach low shelves or items on the floor.
- Ability to enter spaces narrower than 3 feet.
- Ability to climb stairs or over containment walls.
- Ability to perform precise and repetitive handling of a range of material quantities.
- Operate a computer and other office equipment, such as a laptop, copier, or printer in a fixed location.
Benefits & Perks
Compensation/salary range: $37/hr to $47/hr, depending on education, experience, and skills
Work schedule: Shift-based system, including weekends and overtime as required
