Job Description
The R D Operations Engineer - Prototype Electrode Line is responsible for maintaining and improving prototype-scale electrode processing, including slurry mixing and roll-to-roll coating, to support the development of advanced lithium-ion battery materials. The role involves process control, quality assurance, continuous improvement, and collaboration with technical teams to optimize manufacturing capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and monitor quality control procedures to reduce defects and improve product quality
- Establish inspection protocols for incoming, in-process, and final materials
- Set up SPC charts for process control and conduct root cause analyses
- Collaborate with technicians, requesters, and scientists to produce high-quality slurries and coatings
- Lead continuous improvement projects on the electrode processing line to enhance safety, quality, and capacity
- Implement lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other process improvement strategies
- Mentor, train, and support technicians
- Maintain detailed documentation of manufacturing processes, changes, and improvements
- Generate reports on process performance, efficiency, and quality metrics for management
- Scope, plan, and integrate new equipment and processes to improve performance and yield
Requirements
- Hands on experience with sustenance of prototype-scale slurry mixing and roll-to-roll coating equipment and processes
- Demonstrated ability to learn new systems and improve them
- Proficiency in data collection and analysis
- Ability to carefully plan and execute multiple projects simultaneously
- Understanding of materials
- Pass a respirator fit test and be able to wear respiratory protection on a daily basis
- Wear personal protective equipment including, but not limited to, a lab coat, gloves, safety glasses, and steel toe safety shoes
- Regular shift Monday - Friday, 9 00am - 6 00pm
Benefits & Perks
Compensation/salary range: $128,000 to $162,000
Work schedule: Monday - Friday, 9:00am - 6:00pm
