Job Description

This role involves hands-on synthesis, data analysis, and characterization of advanced battery materials, with the goal of translating research breakthroughs into scalable, market-ready products for next-generation lithium-ion batteries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and optimize synthesis processes for advanced anode materials
  • Analyze complex battery cycling data to correlate performance metrics with material properties
  • Conduct analysis and characterization of battery materials to understand structure-property relationships
  • Partner with manufacturing to industrialize lab results and ensure materials are scalable
  • Communicate research findings clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Refine and implement analytical methods for evaluating materials

Requirements

  • Ph.D. or MS in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or Physics with 5 years of hands-on industry experience
  • Experience in materials-centric industries such as semiconductors, battery technology, specialty chemicals, or advanced composites is highly preferred
  • Proven track record of scaling synthesis and process developments on battery or advanced composite materials
  • Demonstrated experience in technology transfer moving material chemistry from a research environment into a production-ready state
  • Fluent knowledge of Designed Experiments (DoE), research statistics, and computational methods for deep data analysis
  • Experience with JMP and Python is a significant plus
  • Intimate, practical knowledge of analytical methods for materials and battery characterization
  • History of safety-centric development and operational accomplishments in lab and manufacturing environments
  • Ability to design and optimize synthesis processes for advanced anode materials, bridging lab-scale discovery and production reality
  • Ability to rigorously analyze complex battery cycling data to correlate cell-level performance metrics to specific material properties
  • Ability to conduct thorough analysis and characterization of structure-property relationships in Li-ion battery materials
  • Experience partnering with manufacturing teams to industrialize lab results and ensure materials are compatible with existing workflows and high-volume scale-up
  • Ability to translate complex R&D findings into clear, actionable insights for technical peers, management, and operations
  • Ability to utilize and refine analytical methods to ensure accurate and repeatable evaluation of materials
  • Pass a respirator fit test and be able to wear respiratory protection on a daily basis
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment including lab coat, gloves, safety glasses, and steel toe safety shoes
  • Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment such as a laptop, copier, and printer in a fixed location

Compensation/salary range: $151,000 to $177,500
