The Senior Staff Accountant at Sila will be responsible for managing month-end close processes, financial reporting, technical accounting research, and supporting internal controls within a fast-growing battery materials company.
Key Responsibilities
Perform month-end closing activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and preparation of financial statements in accordance with US GAAP
Support the annual audit process by liaising with external auditors and providing audit support
Maintain grant tracking schedules, record grant-related journal entries, and assess accounting implications of grant activities
Collaborate with sales operations team on accounts receivable, quotations, sales order confirmations, and invoicing
Oversee key balance sheet accounts such as revenue, accounts receivable, and accrued liabilities
Research and draft technical accounting memos on complex issues like revenue recognition under ASC 606
Develop, refine, and document business processes and accounting procedures to strengthen internal controls
Prepare financial reports for management and Board meetings
Support and mentor junior accounting staff in their professional development
Requirements
Minimum of 3 to 5 years of proven experience, including a combination of public accounting and experience in a large, multinational manufacturing company
Extensive experience with technical accounting research and GAAP reporting
Experience with mid to large-scale ERP systems preferred in a manufacturing environment such as Sage X3 or Coupa
CPA certification highly preferred
Proficient with Google Apps including Gmail, Docs, and Sheets
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to work collaboratively with team members across departments
Perform month-end closing activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and preparation of financial statements in accordance with US GAAP
Support the annual audit process, including liaising with external auditors, providing audit support, and addressing questions or concerns during the audit process
Maintain grant tracking schedules, record grant-related journal entries, and assess accounting implications of grant activities based on US GAAP, including recording revenue and receivable entries, tracking aging of grant receivables, and creating invoices
Collaborate effectively with the sales operations team, providing essential financial and tax-related support throughout the sales cycle including quotations, sales order confirmations, and invoicing
Oversee key balance sheet accounts such as revenue, accounts receivable, and accrued liabilities
Perform independent research and draft technical accounting memos on complex accounting issues such as revenue recognition from contracts with customers under ASC 606
Develop, refine, and document business processes and accounting procedures to maintain and strengthen internal controls
Prepare financial reports for monthly and quarterly meetings with management and the company’s Board of Directors
Support and assist junior accounting staff in their professional development
Perform other job-related duties and ad hoc tasks such as regulatory tax filings

Compensation/salary range: $105,000 to $123,000
