A Software Engineering Manager at SOE leads and manages embedded software development teams, making technical decisions, ensuring quality and delivery, and collaborating across disciplines to solve complex engineering challenges in aerospace and related fields.
Key Responsibilities
Make embedded software design decisions and ensure delivery quality across projects
Lead, mentor, and manage the software engineering team, fostering technical growth and accountability
Provide hands-on technical guidance throughout the embedded software development lifecycle
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical scope, plans, and success criteria
Establish standards, processes, and best practices to improve software design quality and efficiency
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Science, Physics, Systems Engineering, or related field
At least 7 years of experience in a software engineering and hardware development role for aerospace, industrial automation, and/or robotics, especially for tightly coupled systems
At least 5 years of progressively impactful software engineering leadership roles
Previous experience in both a people management and engineering design leadership role
Expertise in successfully executing end-to-end embedded system design from requirements generation through software bring-up
Proven hands-on experience designing and implementing software development processes including SDLC, SecDevOps, CI/CD, and evaluating, selecting, and configuring supporting toolchains and infrastructure to establish scalable development workflows
Strong communication skills with the ability to synthesize and communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders
Ability to evaluate and manage project risk, including scope creep, remediating missing critical requirements, and ensuring that technical challenges are sufficiently addressed
Willingness to work 40 hours per week on-site in El Segundo, California, USA
Eligibility to work on export controlled projects in the U.S. (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or able to obtain necessary authorizations)
Willingness to travel to the Redmond, WA office
