Job Description
The Development Associate Manager will lead the development of large-scale renewable energy and storage projects, managing all phases from site acquisition to project handover, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project execution and growth in the renewable energy sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the development of large-scale renewable energy projects from siting to handover to construction.
- Conduct due diligence on project portfolios, identify opportunities and risks, and prioritize projects.
- Oversee project agreements including PPAs, EPC contracts, and other critical contracts.
- Coordinate project financing efforts and support negotiations with financial and technical stakeholders.
- Evaluate project sites, designs, technology options, and procurement strategies in collaboration with internal and external teams.
- Manage project budgets, schedules, and perform financial analysis and forecasting.
- Lead cross-functional teams throughout the project lifecycle to ensure timely and successful project development.
- Identify new market opportunities and greenfield project prospects across the US.
Requirements
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- At least 5 years of professional work experience.
- A minimum of 2 years of project development experience in the Energy industry.
- Proven problem-solver with a track record of successfully getting projects to Notice-to-Proceed (NTP).
- Experience with project real estate rights, land contracting, title resolutions, and ALTA surveys.
- Knowledge of environmental regulations, governmental rules, and market trends that impact project development in the target markets.
- Familiarity with project grid interconnection elements, interconnection studies, interconnection agreements, and processes.
- Proficiency in managing project budgets and schedules.
- Proven experience with project agreements such as Module Supply Agreements (MSAs), Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contracts, and Operations & Maintenance (O&M) agreements.
- Hands-on experience with the day-to-day management of projects and a demonstrated track record of successfully planning and managing projects from start to finish.
- Self-starter with proven ability to lead diverse project teams in multiple regions.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience and expertise with MS Office (Word, Excel), MS Project, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to travel domestically up to 30% as required.
- Location in the San Francisco Bay Area or San Diego, CA, with a hybrid office setup.
