Job Description
The role involves leading the company's Environment, Health, Safety (EHS), and Sustainability programs, ensuring regulatory compliance, developing ESG initiatives, managing environmental and social impacts, and driving continuous improvement across renewable energy projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and operate the company's Environment, Health Safety (EHS) and Sustainability programs to ensure compliance with industry and OSHA standards.
- Monitor, coach, and manage incident reporting and employee safety needs.
- Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations from federal and state agencies.
- Oversee operational efforts to identify and address environmental concerns for regulatory compliance.
- Develop and lead the ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) program, including setting goals, initiatives, and KPIs.
- Lead the preparation of the annual ESG report, including data collection, content development, and external assurance.
- Coordinate and implement sustainable development initiatives such as CSR, Carbon Neutrality, Water Positive, and Energy Efficiency programs.
- Manage environmental and social compliance, including Carbon Credits, CSR initiatives, and related regulations.
- Drive process improvements related to reporting, incident investigation, hazard communication, and KPI management.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or preferably a master's degree in engineering, environmental science, industrial safety management, or a relevant field.
- 10 years of progressive EHS, Environmental Compliance, and ESG management experience in multi-location renewable and/or energy construction.
- Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in EHS, Environmental Compliance, and ESG management.
- Strong understanding of compliance requirements with applicable local and state discretionary permits and environmental laws, including the Clean Water Act (CWA) stormwater erosion prevention, WOTUS, Clean Air Act (CAA) back-up generation emissions, National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) federal rights-of-way, Endangered Species Act (ESA) take permits, Migratory Bird Treaty Act (MBTA) avian impact avoidance, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) hazardous waste, Environmental Planning and Community Right to Know Act (EPCRA) Tier II reporting, and California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).
- Regulatory and Environmental Compliance experience preferred.
- Successfully managed distributed teams.
- Demonstrated ability to influence at all levels within an organization.
- Project management, root cause analysis, and problem-solving abilities.
- Demonstrated strategic perspective with the ability to lead with data and implement results.
- Proven experience and leadership in implementing innovative EHS and ESG solutions.
- Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Experience working with a distributed, non-exempt field-based population is highly desired.
- Travel availability up to 15% of the time.
- Location flexibility to work in Redwood City or San Diego, CA, Denver, CO, or Phoenix, AZ, with a hybrid work setup.
