Job Description
A creative Instructional Designer responsible for developing engaging training content and learning strategies to support customer success and product understanding within a SaaS environment, leveraging various multimedia tools and instructional methodologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Define training requirements, learning goals, and user needs in collaboration with partners across the company.
- Create and develop learning content in various formats such as online courses, audio, video, and live training materials.
- Leverage AI-based tools and multimedia to rapidly develop and iterate instructional content.
- Review and solicit feedback on content and assessments to ensure effectiveness and engagement.
- Maintain and update content to stay aligned with product and process changes.
- Design and write engaging assessments, self-assessments, credentials, and certification questions.
- Collaborate with the Education team and stakeholders to shape content for live training and events.
- Champion and embed company values and operating principles in instructional design and scaling efforts.
Requirements
- Proven ability to craft learning content that is effective and engaging, with knowledge of Instructional Design standard methodologies
- Ability to communicate abstract or technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences, visually and in writing
- Ability to identify the best learning delivery formats such as online learning, assessments, and audio-based lessons for specific objectives
- Collaboration skills and teamwork abilities
- Attention to design aesthetics and visual detail
- Knowledge of legacy and emerging content development tools such as Articulate, Camtasia, Miro, Figma, Adobe Suite, Zoom, Clueso, Parta.io, etc.
- 3-5 years of learning design or instructional design experience in a software SaaS setting
- Minimum knowledge of Instructional Design standard methodologies and a proven ability to craft effective and engaging learning content
- Ability to design and write engaging and effective assessments, self-assessments, credentials, and certification questions
- Willingness to solicit reviews from partners and SMEs, and review others' content and assessments for effectiveness
- Ability to become an expert in customer and partner needs, keep up with changes in product and process, and maintain content at frequent intervals
- Experience in designing and building learning credentialing experiences in different formats including online learning, audio, video, and live training materials
- Ability to leverage a wide range of tools such as AI-based content authoring and multimedia to develop content rapidly and iteratively
- Willingness to push the team to evolve and improve instructional development processes and discover new models and tooling
- Champion and embed Samsara’s values and operating principles as the organization scales globally
