Job Description
A Software Engineer II at Samsara develops and enhances AI-powered safety and coaching products for fleet management, focusing on building scalable, reliable solutions that improve driver safety and operational efficiency across various industries.
Key Responsibilities
- Write high-quality, maintainable code and handle moderately complex tasks independently.
- Break down well-scoped problems, make sound technical decisions, and escalate ambiguity when needed.
- Take responsibility for features from implementation through release, ensuring quality and reliability.
- Participate in code reviews, support team standards, and contribute to team culture.
- Integrate large language models (LLMs) into safety workflows, design evaluations, and build feedback loops to improve insights.
- Collaborate with product and design teams to evolve and expand AI-powered coaching products.
- Contribute to delivering scalable, AI-driven safety solutions that improve driver safety and operational efficiency.
Requirements
- 2-4 years of relevant industry experience in software development.
- Strong programming coding fundamentals in a language such as Java, Python, or Golang.
- Knowledge of designing, architecting, developing, and monitoring full-stack applications at scale.
- Familiarity with integrating large language models (LLMs) into products, including running evaluations and creating feedback loops to improve accuracy and usefulness of generated insights.
- Experience using data to investigate issues and make the right call to resolve them.
- An ability to estimate, communicate, and deliver on project milestones with your team.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
