Job Description
A Full Stack Engineer at Samsara's Smart Trailers team develops and enhances IoT-based solutions for logistics, focusing on trailer security, asset utilization, environmental monitoring, and supply chain visibility to improve physical operations and ensure cargo safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and build the technical foundation for advanced trailer and sensor products.
- Design intelligent systems utilizing geofencing and motion data to detect security breaches and optimize asset utilization.
- Build infrastructure to monitor environmental conditions for cargo safety and regulatory compliance.
- Expand core capabilities by integrating computer vision for yard checks and supply chain visibility.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable IoT solutions that impact physical operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of relevant industry experience in software development.
- Strong programming coding fundamentals with proficiency in at least one of the following: Go, GraphQL, TypeScript, React.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to manage technical discussions.
- Experience building frontend interfaces that make complex data utilization rates, equipment status digestible and actionable for users.
- Proven ability to work with map-based data geofences, latitude and longitude coordinates, and time-series sensor data.
- Experience consuming ML model outputs, e.g., from camera feeds, and integrating them into user-facing applications.
- Familiarity with data warehousing or processing frameworks to derive insights from trillions of data points.
- Understanding of logistics or supply chain concepts such as cargo compliance, yard management, or freight workflows.
- Experience building and shipping a product from scratch and scaling it for growth and business impact.
