A Sales Engineer at Samsara is responsible for supporting the sales process by demonstrating IoT solutions, managing hardware and software evaluations, and building technical integrations to help modernize essential industries through connected operations technology.
Key Responsibilities
Develop a thorough understanding of IoT hardware, sensors, and cloud infrastructure to present technical solutions to customers.
Assist with hardware installation, manage data collection over carrier networks, and build system integrations via open APIs.
Conduct product demonstrations, value assessments, proof of concept implementations, and explain deployment best practices.
Create scripts using open APIs to solve customer problems and document solutions for team use.
Act as a technical liaison between product and sales teams, translating feedback and enrolling customers in beta programs.
Build and maintain customer relationships by understanding their business needs and providing tailored technical guidance.
Become an expert on Samsara products and articulate their benefits to prospects to support sales efforts.
Requirements
Bachelor's of Science degree from a 4-year accredited university
Minimum of 2 years experience working with customers in a pre-sales, customer success, or customer product support capacity
Ability to influence stakeholders based on technical sales acumen and a solid understanding of business processes and change management
Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences
Basic understanding of electronics and electrical systems
Experience with technical consulting, cloud software, cloud-connected hardware, computer networking, business systems integration, automation, and control systems
Must be located within and authorized to work in the United States
Work experience in task automation scripting and transferring data between systems using Bash, Python, JavaScript, or equivalent language
Work experience building solutions leveraging open APIs
Understanding of vehicle diagnostic systems, including Controller Area Networks (CAN bus) and Power Take Off (PTO) applications
Ability to manage hardware and software product evaluations and deliver technical demonstrations
Ability to develop deployment plans and explain best practices for installing Samsara products
Ability to write scripts against open APIs and document solutions for team use
Ability to act as a liaison between product and sales teams, translating technical feedback and enrolling customers in beta programs
