Job Description

A Sales Engineer at Samsara is responsible for supporting the sales team by providing technical expertise on IoT hardware, sensors, and cloud solutions, assisting with product demonstrations, integrations, and customer technical inquiries to help clients optimize their physical operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Global Sales Team with technical inquiries and tasks, including monitoring inbound question queues.
  • Support technical trials and proof of concepts by creating software scripts and system integrations.
  • Provide internal technical assistance and QA support for customer-related inquiries.
  • Develop and manage digital content to facilitate product learning, adoption, and hardware/software setup.
  • Maintain and update hardware and software lab infrastructure, including remote kits.
  • Participate in new product testing activities.
  • Gather and highlight industry-specific customer use cases to support sales efforts.
  • Coordinate cross-functional communication to ensure customer success, including RFP responses and support triaging.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Basic understanding of electronics and electrical systems.
  • Experience tinkering with hardware gadgets, sensors, or vehicles is a plus.
  • Ability to assist the Global Sales Team with technical inquiries and tasks by monitoring and maintaining an inbound question queue.
  • Assist with technical trials across Samsara’s Sales Engineering team to convey the value of Samsara solutions within a prospect’s operation.
  • Create software scripting solutions and integrations where appropriate to assist with technical proof of concepts.
  • Be available for internal QA from Samsara account teams requesting technical assistance on behalf of their customers.
  • Produce and manage digital content to assist with product learning, product adoption, hardware installation, and software configuration.
  • Update and manage internal hardware and software lab infrastructure, both in office and remote kits.
  • Coordinate and participate in new product testing activities.
  • Gather and highlight industry-specific customer use cases for Samsara solutions by working with technical sales teams.
  • Coordinate cross-functional communication to ensure prospect success, including RFP responses, Product Feature Request management, and Customer Support triaging.
  • Preferred 1 year of experience working with customers in a pre-sales or support capacity.
  • Ability to develop a thorough understanding of IoT hardware and sensors, hands-on installation deployment scenarios, carrier networks, cloud infrastructure, and third-party system integrations via open API.
  • Reside in the Central time zone within the US, excluding Austin Metro, Chicago Metro, Dallas Metro, and Houston Metro, as this is a remote position.
  • Legal right to work in the specified work location.
