Job Description

A Sales Engineer at Samsara is responsible for demonstrating and implementing IoT solutions to modernize essential industries, providing technical expertise, supporting customer deployments, and acting as a bridge between product and sales teams to drive digital transformation in physical operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop expertise in Samsara products and articulate their value to prospects.
  • Conduct technical demonstrations, value assessments, and proof of concept implementations.
  • Guide customers through hardware installation and deployment planning.
  • Write scripts using open APIs to solve real-world customer problems and document solutions.
  • Act as a technical liaison between product and sales teams, providing feedback and enrolling customers in beta programs.
  • Explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Build solutions leveraging open APIs and integrate hardware and software systems.
  • Support account deepening through consulting, upselling, and cross-selling activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's of Science degree from a 4 year accredited university
  • At least 2 years of experience working with customers in a pre-sales, customer success, or customer product support capacity
  • Ability to influence stakeholders based on technical sales acumen and a solid understanding of business processes and change management
  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Previous experience managing hardware and/or software product evaluations
  • Basic understanding of electronics and electrical systems
  • Experience with technical consulting, cloud software, cloud-connected hardware, computer networking, business systems integration, automation, and control systems
  • Work experience in task automation scripting and transferring data between systems using Bash, Python, JavaScript, or equivalent language
  • Work experience building solutions leveraging open APIs
  • Understanding of vehicle diagnostic systems, including Controller Area Networks (CAN bus) and Power Take Off (PTO) applications
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and manage technical evaluations and demonstrations
  • Ability to develop deployment plans and explain best practices for installing Samsara products
  • Ability to write scripts against open APIs and document them for team use
  • Willingness to travel to customer locations approximately 25% of the time
  • Must be physically located in the United States, within the North East region, and live within 2 hours of an airport
  • Candidates must be able to secure and maintain the legal right to work at the company and in the specified work location
