Job Description

The Installation Specialist at Samsara is responsible for overseeing the deployment of hardware and technology solutions at customer sites, ensuring successful installations, troubleshooting issues, and collaborating with teams to drive customer success and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee customer installation milestones and resolve issues to ensure quality standards are met
  • Serve as point of contact for escalations and troubleshooting during installation phases
  • Assist partners in creating project-specific installation guides and provide onsite training
  • Coordinate with installation vendors to ensure timely, on-budget, and quality-compliant work
  • Provide onsite oversight for large or complex deployments, including site readiness and real-time troubleshooting
  • Perform first-of-its-kind installations on complex customer projects as a technical expert
  • Identify project risks, propose mitigation strategies, and keep projects on track
  • Capture lessons learned to improve installation processes and partner performance
  • Collaborate with internal teams to escalate issues, share feedback, and enhance installation experience
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and company best practices throughout installations

Requirements

  • High school diploma required, advanced degree preferred.
  • Must have valid driver s license and be insurable.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience managing vehicle and or hardware technology.
  • Prior vehicle installation or up-fitter experience preferred, e.g., experience installing emergency lighting, two-way mobile radios, GPS equipment, antennas or other electrical equipment.
  • Understanding of vehicle diagnostic systems, including Controller Area Networks (CAN bus) and Power Take Off (PTO) applications, for on-road and off-road vehicles and yellow iron equipment.
  • Basic understanding of electronics and electrical systems.
  • Experience in field operations coordination, implementation, and technical deployment.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects in parallel.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Fluent in English verbal and written.
  • Customer travel is expected up to 50-70%, including weekends and overnight stays.
  • Ability to develop professional customer-facing documentation and communicate effectively in ambiguous, fast-paced work environments.
  • Strong bias for standardization and automation, with the ability to think big and maintain high standards.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced and change-heavy environment.
  • Possesses strong problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Familiarity or hands-on experience with AI tools to drive operational efficiency.
