Job Description

The Director of Equity at Samsara is responsible for managing and scaling the company's global equity programs, leading a team of professionals to ensure transparency, compliance, and automation in equity administration, while providing strategic guidance and fostering employee engagement in equity compensation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the day-to-day administration of all equity platforms, plans, and awards, including grants, vesting, sales, and ESPP activity
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of Equity professionals
  • Build and scale processes, systems, and controls to support compliance with SEC, IRS, audit, SOX, and foreign equity requirements
  • Serve as the company's equity plan expert, providing strategic guidance to Legal, Finance, Accounting, People, and leadership
  • Support equity and cap table reporting, including SEC disclosures and elections
  • Maintain and optimize equity systems accuracy, including Schwab Equiview and Computershare platforms
  • Provide equity data, analysis, and insights for compensation strategy, board materials, and presentations
  • Own and evolve employee equity education, communications, and engagement tools
  • Monitor compliance with U.S. and international regulations regarding income, tax withholding, securities, and reporting
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure scalable, accurate equity data management and audits
  • Identify and implement automation opportunities to improve efficiency and scalability in equity operations
  • Lead global education initiatives related to equity compensation, financial wellness, and plan understanding

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field.
  • 10 years of progressive experience in equity administration, including 5 years managing and leading teams.
  • Deep technical knowledge of equity compensation vehicles ISOs, NSOs, RSUs, PSUs, ESPP and accounting under ASC 718.
  • Extensive experience supporting SEC reporting, IRS requirements, audits, SOX compliance, and foreign equity compliance.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Experience with Schwab and Computershare platforms.
  • Preferred: Certified Equity Professional CEP designation.
