Job Description
The AI Engineer at Samsara is responsible for developing and scaling AI-powered business applications, particularly leveraging large language models and generative AI, to enhance operational insights and efficiencies across various industries. The role involves rapid prototyping, implementing AI frameworks, and maintaining robust AI infrastructure in a remote, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and scale AI-powered business applications using machine learning and generative AI techniques.
- Develop rapid prototypes and iterative AI-based solutions for business needs.
- Implement evaluation frameworks for AI applications leveraging foundational models.
- Provide production support, monitoring, and troubleshooting for AI systems.
- Design and develop scalable APIs and microservices to support AI functionalities.
Requirements
- Possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related Engineering discipline.
- Have 5 years of software development experience.
- Have 3 years of experience working with large datasets and data pipelines.
- Proven experience building Generative AI applications.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals and SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) best practices.
- Proficiency in Python, Java, or an equivalent programming language.
- Experience designing scalable APIs and microservices.
- Cloud experience, with AWS preferred, or GCP or Azure.
- Knowledge of Large Language Models (LLMs), vector databases, and applied Generative AI techniques and frameworks such as RAG, Agentic AI orchestration, LangChain, Llama Index, etc.
- Experience shipping LLM-powered applications.
- Understanding of prompt engineering and tuning.
- Possess a bias for action with a track record of solving technical challenges creatively.
- Experience in 0-1 MVP development and iterative prototyping.
- Experience leveraging LLMs, RAG, and Agentic frameworks.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams.
