The Scientist V at RES is a senior environmental professional responsible for providing expert scientific leadership in ecological restoration projects, guiding data collection, analysis, and regulatory compliance, while mentoring junior staff and influencing environmental outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as a senior technical authority in wetlands, stream morphology, soils, water quality, and related areas, guiding internal teams, clients, and regulatory agencies.
Lead and interpret scientific studies, data collection, and analysis to inform ecological restoration projects.
Mentor junior scientists, review technical reports, and provide coaching on scientific content and communication.
Collaborate with project managers on staffing, project planning, budgeting, and reporting for environmental projects.
Represent the organization as a thought leader by preparing for and participating in conferences, panels, and stakeholder meetings.
Requirements
15 years of experience in environmental science, or 13 years of experience with an advanced degree
Bachelor's degree in natural or physical sciences
Expertise in one or more disciplines such as wetlands, soils, water quality, stream morphology, ecology, biology, or geology
Deep understanding of regional regulatory requirements and permitting processes
Strong experience in functional assessments and field lab data analysis
Advanced knowledge of GIS and environmental mapping
Proficient in scientific software and field equipment such as YSI meters, GPS, turbidimeters, etc.
Skilled in project planning, budgeting, staffing, and reporting
