The Scientist V at RES is a senior environmental professional responsible for providing expert scientific leadership in ecological restoration projects, guiding data collection, analysis, and regulatory compliance, while mentoring junior staff and influencing environmental outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as a senior technical authority in wetlands, stream morphology, soils, water quality, and related areas.
Guide internal teams, clients, and regulatory agencies with scientific insights.
Lead and shape data collection, interpretation, and application across projects and ecosystems.
Mentor junior scientists and review technical reports and assessments.
Collaborate with project managers on staffing, planning, and project execution.
Represent the organization at conferences and in communications with stakeholders.
Requirements
15 years of experience in environmental science, or 13 years of experience with an advanced degree
Bachelor's degree in natural or physical sciences
Expertise in one or more disciplines such as wetlands, soils, water quality, stream morphology, ecology, biology, or geology
Deep understanding of regional regulatory requirements and permitting processes
Strong experience in functional assessments and field lab data analysis
Advanced knowledge of GIS and environmental mapping
Proficient in scientific software and field equipment such as YSI meters, GPS, turbidimeters, etc.
Skilled in project planning, budgeting, staffing, and reporting
