Job Description
An Environmental Engineering Intern role focused on supporting ecological restoration projects through fieldwork, data analysis, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, and design support, with opportunities to collaborate across engineering, ecology, and GIS teams to promote sustainability and environmental impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct field surveys and data collection on stream flow, habitat, erosion potential, and stream bed materials using GPS, laser levels, and total stations
- Assist in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling using software such as WinTR-55 and HEC-RAS to predict runoff, determine design discharges, and analyze floodplain connections
- Support the development of ecological restoration designs, including creating preliminary and detailed plans for stream and wetland projects using AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Prepare components of technical reports and assist in designing and sizing channels, in-stream features, and stabilization techniques
- Collaborate with GIS team to utilize spatial data for watershed analyses, site characterization, and informing restoration projects
Requirements
- Currently a rising senior pursuing a degree in environmental engineering, civil engineering, biological systems engineering, agricultural engineering, water resources engineering, or a related field
- Familiarity with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software such as WinTR-55 and HEC-RAS
- Familiarity with GIS data and mapping tools
- Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Keen interest in ecological restoration and sustainable development
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in both office and field settings
