A hands-on environmental restoration technician role involving outdoor work such as planting, erosion control, invasive species management, and operating various equipment to restore ecosystems across multiple regions.
Key Responsibilities
Plant, seed, and install erosion control measures in outdoor environments
Operate light equipment such as chainsaws, brush cutters, augers, UTVs, skid steers, and trucks
Apply herbicide to control invasive plant species
Perform invasive plant removal and native plant installation
Conduct restoration activities including stormwater management, stream restoration, and landscape construction
Requirements
High School degree or equivalent
Ability to operate and adapt within a team
Keen interest in natural resources and outdoors
At least 1 or more years of experience working in field operations or civil construction or on natural resource or water resource infrastructure projects
Prior experience performing native seed and plant installation, including erosion control measures
Knowledge of native plant identification
Experience spraying herbicide and the ability to study for and pass a test to become a licensed Pesticide Applicator
Ability to operate and maintain small engines and equipment
Ability to obtain and maintain a FedMed Certificate
Ability to drive truck and trailer
Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including rain or shine
Willingness to walk long distances carrying equipment up to 50 lbs
Willingness to operate equipment such as chainsaws, gas-powered brush cutters, augers, sprayers, UTVs, skid steers, and trucks with trailers
Availability to work over 50 hours per week, including opportunities for weekend work during peak periods
Ability to travel up to 75% within the region, including overnight stays of 1 to 4 nights for some projects
