Job Description
A Restoration Operator III is responsible for leading complex ecological restoration tasks, operating specialized equipment, mentoring team members, and supporting environmental projects focused on ecosystem restoration and resource protection.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute complex ecological restoration tasks across multiple projects and sites.
- Operate and maintain specialized restoration equipment such as tractors, skid steers, and Marsh Masters.
- Support safety and logistics planning for restoration projects.
- Train, mentor, and provide guidance to other crew members in equipment operation and restoration techniques.
- Perform planting, seeding, invasive species control, and erosion prevention activities in the field.
- Make real-time decisions, troubleshoot issues, and communicate needs during field operations.
- Document activities using GPS mapping tools and tracking applications.
- Assess and ensure equipment readiness and safety before field work.
- Transport equipment and materials to project sites as needed.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- CDL Class A license to haul equipment across state lines
- Minimum of 5 years of ecological restoration experience
- Minimum of 3 years of field equipment operator experience
- Proven ability to maintain and repair field equipment, including track resets
- Experience training others in equipment operation and restoration techniques
- Familiarity with GPS mapping and progress tracking tools
- Strong plant identification skills for native and invasive species
- Ability to read and execute work from project plans, specifications, and maps
- Experience estimating time, labor, and materials for specific tasks
- Ability to lift 50 lbs, walk on uneven ground, and climb onto construction equipment
- Valid Commercial Pesticide Applicator License in applicable categories
