Job Description
A hands-on role involving operating specialized equipment and performing ecological restoration activities to restore and protect natural ecosystems, primarily through invasive species control, planting, seeding, and site maintenance in outdoor environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate specialized equipment such as front end loaders, skid steers, tractors, ATVs, and herbicide application equipment
- Perform invasive brush clearing, tree felling, planting, seeding, and minor soil grading
- Maintain and service field equipment, including troubleshooting and diagnostics
- Conduct restoration activities such as identifying native and invasive species and site clearing
- Apply herbicides and operate equipment for site preparation and erosion control
- Track field progress using mapping tools and apps
- Load and transport project materials from nurseries and suppliers
Requirements
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including exposure to insects such as ticks and mosquitoes, and poisonous plants such as poison ivy.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work overtime, 50-60 hours per week.
- High School degree or GED.
- At least 1 year of experience working on natural resources, farming, or water resource infrastructure projects.
- Experience with the repair and maintenance of small engines and equipment.
- Ability to understand project plans, details, and specifications.
- Possession of an up-to-date DOT medical card.
- Reliable means of transportation to get to the field office.
