Job Description
The Operator II at RES is responsible for executing construction tasks on restoration and infrastructure projects, operating various equipment, setting grades, and supporting team communication to ensure high-quality environmental restoration work.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate a variety of construction equipment such as tractors, skid steers, and brush cutters.
- Assist with grading, setting elevations, and installing features according to site plans.
- Review construction plans and implement them in the field.
- Perform equipment checks, report maintenance needs, and ensure site safety protocols are followed.
- Support in training new crew members on safe practices and task procedures.
- Monitor work progress against project specifications and communicate with team members.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required
- At least 2 years of construction experience
- At least 1 year of experience operating construction equipment
- Strong familiarity with safety practices and PPE
- Experience setting grades with smooth transitions and low tolerances within 0.2 ft
- Ability to read project plans and implement them in the field
- Basic experience with GPS and grading tools
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly
- Capable of walking over uneven surfaces, climbing on construction equipment, and navigating hills
- Comfortable working outdoors and performing tasks at ground level
- Ability to travel 4-5 nights a week, with per diem and hotel stay provided
