Job Description
An Equipment Operator at RES is responsible for operating heavy machinery, performing routine maintenance, and following safety protocols to support erosion control and restoration projects, primarily outdoors and across various locations. The role involves teamwork, adherence to safety standards, and contributing to environmental sustainability efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate heavy machinery such as skid steers, excavators, and dozers for erosion control projects
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections on equipment
- Follow safety protocols and report safety concerns or incidents
- Set required elevations using GPS equipment to ensure project specifications
- Prepare equipment and tools for daily operations and clean up at the end of each day
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of construction experience.
- Proficiency in operating heavy machinery and construction tools.
- Basic understanding of project plans and the ability to set grades.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Capable of walking over uneven surfaces, navigating hills, and climbing on construction equipment.
- Comfortable working outdoors and performing tasks at ground level.
- Willingness to learn how to operate GPS equipment, with experience with GPS equipment being a plus.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Safety-conscious and able to strictly follow safety protocols.
- Ability to perform routine equipment maintenance and inspections, documenting procedures and addressing issues.
- Ability to review work plans and objectives, and participate in safety briefings.
