The Test Engineering Lead at Redwood Materials is responsible for building and managing testing infrastructure and procedures for high-power electromechanical battery products, leading a team to ensure product validation and high-volume manufacturing quality in a fast-paced startup environment.
Key Responsibilities
Build, validate, and support testers for high-power electromechanical products.
Define test procedures balancing coverage, speed, and cost.
Lead and manage a test engineering team throughout the product lifecycle.
Develop and deploy testing infrastructure for product validation and high-volume manufacturing.
Collaborate with product teams to ensure effective testing strategies.
Requirements
7 years of technical experience in mechanical, electrical, software, or related product design engineering, not necessarily in test engineering
Comfort with high-voltage 400-2000VDC, and 480VAC products
Personal technical expertise in at least one aspect of test engineering, such as designing test fixtures, electrical cabinets, or software infrastructure for testers
Experience developing tools, infrastructure, and design practices for a growing team
Strong leadership and project management skills, with demonstrated ability to lead complex technical initiatives
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building relationships with all levels of the organization and presenting to internal and external executives
Ability to perform the essential job functions consistently, safely, and successfully in environments that may include exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and temperature extremes, while protected by PPE
Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards
Physical ability to perform essential job functions such as climbing, standing, stooping, or typing
Willingness to work occasional weekends, nights, or be on-call as a regular part of the job
Willingness to undertake occasional travel as required
