Job Description

The Space Systems Engineer will support satellite operations by developing and maintaining software, analyzing data, troubleshooting anomalies, and contributing to the optimization and advancement of Planet's Earth Observation satellite constellation.

Key Responsibilities

Support daily satellite operations, analyze data, and troubleshoot anomalies
Develop, test, and deploy software for satellite systems and on-orbit experiments
Perform fleet checks, monitor satellite health, and support on-call shifts
Create scripts and operational procedures to enhance satellite monitoring and performance
Analyze data to identify issues and propose solutions to improve fleet capacity and efficiency
Provide operational insights and feedback to engineering teams based on satellite performance

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or equivalent
4 years of relevant work experience in software development or related fields
Experience in software development, particularly in Python or similar languages
Familiarity with the space environment and its challenges
Data-driven mindset with experience in statistical analysis
Proactive approach to engineering and problem-solving
Effective interpersonal and collaboration skills within a technical team
This position requires access to export-controlled information, and employment or hiring of a contractor is contingent upon the candidate's ability to access all applicable export-controlled information without additional export licensing being required by the Bureau of Industry and Security and/or the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls
