Job Description
A Hardware Test Engineering Intern at Redwood Materials supports the design and execution of hardware validation tests for new electromechanical products, gaining hands-on experience across mechanical, electrical, and software engineering disciplines throughout the hardware development cycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, set up, and execute validation tests for a new electromechanical product
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop test plans and understand engineering challenges
- Specify, build, and maintain physical test infrastructure such as fixtures, instrumentation, environmental chambers, and high voltage power supplies
- Develop and contribute to test analysis automation tools
- Participate in failure analysis activities, including teardowns and root cause investigations
- Collect, analyze, and document test data to derive key learnings
Requirements
- Actively pursuing a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, mechatronics or a related field
- Project experience involving hands-on testing, lab work or electromechanical systems
- Strong mechanical and electrical engineering fundamentals
- Interest in working across various engineering disciplines and willingness to learn
- Introductory programming experience
- Object-oriented programming experience preferred
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Motivated, curious, and eager to learn with a get-it-done attitude
- Ability to perform the essential job functions consistent safely and successfully with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards
- Ability to work in challenging working conditions which may include exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and temperature extremes, while protected by PPE, for extended periods of time
- Essential physical requirements, such as climbing, standing, stooping, or typing
- Occasional travel as needed
Benefits & Perks
Compensation range: $41,000 - $54,000 USD
Full-time position
