A Hardware Test Engineering Intern at Redwood Materials supports the design and execution of hardware validation tests for new electromechanical products, gaining hands-on experience across mechanical, electrical, and software engineering disciplines throughout the hardware development cycle.
Key Responsibilities
Design, set up, and execute validation tests for a new electromechanical product
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop test plans and understand engineering challenges
Specify, build, and maintain physical test infrastructure such as fixtures, instrumentation, environmental chambers, and high voltage power supplies
Develop and contribute to test analysis automation tools
Participate in failure analysis activities, including teardowns and root cause investigations
Collect, analyze, and document test data to derive key learnings
Requirements
Actively pursuing a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, mechatronics or a related field
Project experience involving hands-on testing, lab work or electromechanical systems
Strong mechanical and electrical engineering fundamentals
Interest in working across various engineering disciplines and willingness to learn
Introductory programming experience
Object-oriented programming experience preferred
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
Motivated, curious, and eager to learn with a get-it-done attitude
Ability to perform the essential job functions consistent safely and successfully with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards
Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards
Ability to work in challenging working conditions which may include exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and temperature extremes, while protected by PPE, for extended periods of time
Essential physical requirements, such as climbing, standing, stooping, or typing
Occasional travel as needed

Compensation range: $41,000 - $54,000 USD
