Job Description

The Manufacturing Quality Engineer at Redwood Materials is responsible for developing and maintaining quality standards, leading risk mitigation efforts, and supporting process improvements in battery and energy storage manufacturing to ensure product quality and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop process and product quality standards and plans to ensure customer expectations are met
  • Lead the development of DFMEAs, PFMEAs, Process Control Plans, and inspection procedures to identify and mitigate quality risks
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to implement critical quality processes and achieve quality objectives
  • Execute quality readiness tasks for production ramp-up
  • Maintain and uphold quality standards throughout manufacturing
  • Lead problem-solving teams to resolve quality issues, including root cause analysis and corrective actions

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field
  • At least 3 years of experience in a quality role
  • Experience with power electronics or battery technologies
  • Knowledge and experience leading structured problem-solving methodologies
  • Experience developing and using quality tools as well as other quality system elements
  • Adept with process data acquisition and quality analysis tools
  • Proficiency in statistical methods and ability to apply them
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to execute with a calm and collaborative urgency
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform repetitive motions
  • Experience developing process and product quality standards and quality plans to ensure products meet customer expectations
  • Experience leading the development of Design Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (DFMEAs) and Process Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (PFMEAs), along with Process Control Plans and test inspection procedures
  • Experience coordinating with cross-functional teams to develop and implement critical quality processes and achieve quality objectives
  • Experience executing process and product quality readiness tasks for production ramp-up
  • Experience leading cross-functional problem-solving teams to facilitate issue resolution, including root cause investigations and development, implementation, and validation of corrective and preventive actions
  • Experience working closely with the quality systems team to follow standards and processes
