The System Modeling Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing multiphysics models to optimize the performance and cost of innovative energy storage systems, supporting product architecture decisions and deployment strategies within a fast-paced startup environment.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and integrate a Multiphysics modeling platform for energy storage systems.
Contribute to in-house performance and technoeconomic modeling of battery systems.
Conduct architectural studies to evaluate cost and performance trade-offs.
Perform component-level sensitivity analyses to optimize cost and performance.
Utilize models to support product architecture and deployment decisions.
Parallelize modeling framework to leverage cloud computing resources for faster results.
Lead model validation efforts through test planning, execution, and data analysis.
Communicate modeling results to inform system architecture and performance improvements.
Requirements
An MS or PhD in Mechanical Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or a BS and 2 years of related work experience.
Excellent first-principles physics understanding of electrical and mechanical systems, power delivery, energy storage and transformation, and basic thermal mechanics.
Experience collaborating in software projects with multiple contributors.
Experience in hybrid or electric powertrain model development, PV model development, or data analysis in Python or MATLAB Simulink.
Familiarity with basic controls techniques, such as filters, PID controllers, and system identification.
Experience with optimization techniques.
Demonstrated ability to write clear and testable engineering requirements.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
