Job Description
The role involves leading the development and implementation of automated robotics and sorting technology for battery recycling, managing a cross-functional engineering team, and collaborating across departments to optimize sorting systems for efficiency and accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture, design, implementation, and testing of automated battery sorting systems.
- Manage and mentor a cross-functional engineering team specializing in software, controls, mechanical, and electrical engineering.
- Collaborate with product, finance, operations, and engineering teams to define system requirements for downstream battery sorting.
- Make decisions on hardware and software component sourcing, including sensors, actuators, conveyer systems, and ML infrastructure.
- Develop and own the technology roadmap for automated sorting systems.
Requirements
- BS or MS degree in Engineering
- 10 years of engineering and engineering leadership experience in a fast paced, highly fluid environment
- Proficiency across hardware and software stacks as applied in industries like robotics, vehicle automation, or factory automation
- Well versed in all types of machine automation components, sensors, vision systems, electro-mechanical actuators, motion control, pneumatics, hydraulics, etc.
- Ability to perform the essential job functions safely and successfully in accordance with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards
- Ability to work in challenging working conditions which may include exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and temperature extremes, while protected by PPE, for extended periods of time
- Physical ability to perform essential physical requirements such as climbing, standing, stooping, or typing
- Willingness to occasionally work weekends, nights, or be on-call as a regular part of the job
- Willingness to undertake occasional travel
