Job Description
The Senior Compliance Engineer at Redwood Materials is responsible for ensuring that new energy storage products meet industry standards and regulations, managing certification processes, influencing standards development, and supporting product development to promote a sustainable and innovative battery recycling and energy storage technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure new energy storage technologies comply with industry standards and regulations such as UL, NFPA, and NEC.
- Represent Redwood on standards organizations and influence the development of industry standards for emerging technologies.
- Collaborate with certification bodies to establish and manage certification programs for new products.
- Work with engineering and product teams to align regulatory requirements with product development milestones.
- Simplify complex regulatory requirements into actionable objectives for internal teams.
- Develop and implement fire mitigation and testing plans in compliance with safety standards.
- Coordinate with external agencies for testing support and regulatory approvals.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline compliance processes for innovative products.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, regulatory compliance, or a related field; an advanced degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in regulatory compliance, product certification, or NPI, preferably in energy storage or a related industry.
- Strong knowledge of UL, NFPA, NEC, and other relevant codes and standards.
- Proven experience influencing and contributing to the development of industry codes and standards.
- Experience managing certification processes and working with certification bodies such as UL.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to interface at an executive level.
- Demonstrated ability to simplify complex regulatory information for non-expert stakeholders.
- Ability to develop and implement fire mitigation and testing plans in compliance with safety standards, and coordinate with external agencies such as local fire departments for testing support and approvals.
- Ability to perform the essential job functions safely and successfully in environments that may include exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and temperature extremes, while protected by PPE.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
- Physical ability to perform essential physical requirements such as climbing, standing, stooping, or typing.
- Willingness to work in challenging working conditions which may include exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and temperature extremes, while protected by PPE.
- Availability to work occasional weekends, nights, or be on-call as a regular part of the job.
- Willingness to undertake occasional travel as required by the position.
Benefits & Perks
Compensation/salary range: $127,500 - $248,500 USD
