The Production Engineer, Mechanical at Redwood Materials is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and improving equipment and processes in the battery recycling line to ensure efficient and reliable production operations.
Key Responsibilities
Troubleshoot and resolve process and equipment issues on the production line
Provide technical support for abnormal and non-routine operations
Monitor line health and analyze process data to optimize performance and quality
Implement new data collection technologies to track production metrics
Create and update process work instructions and standard operating procedures
Train production teams on new processes and equipment
Organize and oversee plant testing and product trials
Identify and lead continuous improvement projects
Lead and support incident investigations
Requirements
A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
3 to 7 years of experience in an industrial plant operations environment.
Experience with industrial scale processes and equipment, including automation.
Strong organizational and project management skills, with previous project management experience preferred.
Ability to troubleshoot and solve process and equipment issues as they arise, collaborating with operations and maintenance teams.
Ability to provide technical support for abnormal and non-routine operation.
Ability to monitor line health and analyze process data to improve production line performance and quality.
Experience in creating and modifying process work instructions and standard operating procedures.
Experience in organizing and monitoring plant testing and product trials.
Ability to identify and execute continuous improvement projects.
Physical ability to perform essential job functions in compliance with ADA, FMLA, and other relevant regulations, including meeting both qualitative and quantitative productivity standards.
Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance in line with ADA, FMLA, and applicable standards.
Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety gloves, helmets, and eyewear, or additional PPE when required.
Ability to talk, listen, and speak clearly on the telephone.
Ability to use a full-face respirator and powered air purifying respirator (PAPR).
Willingness to work around hazardous waste and hazardous materials with appropriate PPE.
Willingness to work outdoors where some equipment is located.
Ability to work in conditions with exposure to loud noise, extreme heat or cold, dust, fumes, or hazardous chemicals.
Availability to work full-time shifts, including day shifts from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm on Sunday through Tuesday and Thursday through Saturday, with every other Wednesday off.
