Design, prototype, and launch high-power power converters for energy storage applications
Select and optimize power electronics topologies, control algorithms, semiconductors, and magnetics
Create accurate time-domain control and thermal models to inform design and development
Perform circuit board layout and layout supervision for high-power electronics
Select circuit components for manufacturability and electrical performance
Perform schematic capture and detailed PCB layout using CAD software
Mentor test technicians in designing tests, interpreting results, and defining part maturity criteria
Requirements
Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, with a focus in power electronics
7 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a strong focus in power conversion or energy storage products, ideally for mass production
Experience in high-voltage design up to 2000VDC and 480VAC
Familiarity with techniques for efficiency optimization in power electronics
Basic knowledge of control theory and embedded systems
Strong analytical problem solving skills
Experience in rapid iterations on prototypes based on customer, supplier, and co-worker feedback
Strong understanding of power electronics topologies and fundamentals, including AC/DC and DC/DC conversions
Experience with semiconductor selections, gate drive, and protection circuit design
Proven track record as an electrical engineer with hands-on design, prototyping, and launch experience in medium-to-high volume production of 10,000 units per year or higher
Ability to select circuit components for manufacturability as well as electrical function
Ability to perform detailed schematic capture in Altium or related CAD software
Ability to supervise and occasionally perform detailed layout of high-power electronics PCBs in Altium or related CAD software
Physical ability to perform essential job functions safely and successfully, including climbing, standing, stooping, or typing, consistent with ADA, FMLA, and other standards
Ability to work in challenging conditions which may include exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and temperature extremes, while protected by PPE, for extended periods
Willingness to work occasional weekends, nights, or be on-call as a regular part of the job
Work schedule: Full-time, with occasional weekends, nights, or on-call work
Work environment perks: Ability to work in challenging conditions with PPE, physical activity requirements such as climbing, standing, stooping, or typing, and occasional travel
