The Hardware Technical Program Manager at Redwood Materials leads the development, testing, and manufacturing of complex electronics assemblies, overseeing program execution from concept to production while coordinating cross-functional teams and external manufacturing partners.
Key Responsibilities
Lead development, testing, and manufacturing of complex electronics assemblies from concept to production
Coordinate cross-functional teams across hardware engineering, validation, supply chain, and operations
Plan and manage prototype and production builds, including materials, logistics, and factory readiness
Oversee system integration, validation testing, and release of boards and flex assemblies
Partner with suppliers and contract manufacturers to drive design for manufacturability (DFM), design for test (DFT), and yield improvements
Maintain project plans, risk registers, and program dashboards to proactively manage schedule and resources
Serve as primary interface between Redwood engineering teams and external manufacturing partners
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or related Engineering discipline; an advanced degree is a plus.
At least 5 years of experience in hardware program management, hardware engineering, or manufacturing operations.
Proven success in driving NPI (New Product Introduction) builds and scaling hardware programs to volume production.
Strong understanding of box-level assemblies including PCBs, flex circuits, harnessing, enclosures, and thermal systems.
Exceptional organizational, communication, and leadership skills, with a proven ability to thrive in high-ambiguity environments.
Willingness to travel to Redwood's sites, suppliers, and contract manufacturers as needed.
Ability to safely perform job duties in both office and production environments, maintaining regular and punctual attendance in alignment with company and regulatory standards.
Ability to communicate clearly.
Willingness to travel to Reno, NV as needed and for onboarding if based in the Bay Area.
Work schedule flexibility to accommodate site operational needs, including extended periods of working in the production facility.
Ability to work in challenging working conditions which may include exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and temperature extremes, while protected by PPE, for extended periods of time.
May require occasional work on weekends or alternate shifts to support production needs, approximately 25% of the time.
This is a full-time position located in San Francisco, CA.

Compensation range: $153,000 - $248,500 USD
