Job Description

Redwood Materials is seeking a DevOps Engineer to design, build, and manage infrastructure and applications in a hybrid AWS and Kubernetes environment, supporting the company's growth in battery materials and energy storage solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and deploy infrastructure and applications in a hybrid AWS and Kubernetes environment.
  • Manage and support AWS infrastructure and Kubernetes workloads using infrastructure-as-code tools.
  • Operationalize workloads in AWS and Kubernetes, including designing monitoring solutions and deployment pipelines.
  • Automate build, test, and deployment processes through CI/CD pipelines.
  • Collaborate on hybrid infrastructure projects with on-premises teams.
  • Apply industry best practices for automation, security, and infrastructure management.
  • Perform root cause analysis and resolve technical issues in production environments.
  • Create and maintain system architecture diagrams and detailed design documentation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, similar technical field of study, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience as a DevOps engineer or in a similar software engineering role developing solutions in AWS.
  • Hands-on experience deploying and managing Kubernetes workloads.
  • Solid knowledge and experience with AWS services IAM, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, VPC, DynamoDB, etc.
  • Solid knowledge and experience with Kubernetes and containerization configuring and managing clusters, helm chart development and deployment, building containers, working with docker, etc.
  • Experience automating AWS solutions using infrastructure-as-code tools, such as CDK, Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.
  • Fluency in Python (strongly desired).
  • Experience with Linux and Git.
  • Understanding of security best practices and the ability to apply them.
  • Ability to manage production workloads, including debugging, monitoring, and alerting.

Benefits & Perks

Compensation/salary range: $168,500 - $276,000 USD
Work schedule: Infrequent night and weekend work if production systems are down; occasional 2-3 times a year travel to Reno area
Work environment perks: Remote work option
Additional benefits: Full-time employment, compensation commensurate with experience
