Job Description
The Interconnection Coordinator oversees the integration of distributed energy resources such as community solar, utility-scale solar, and energy storage projects into utility distribution systems, managing technical, regulatory, and stakeholder aspects to ensure efficient project execution and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate the end-to-end interconnection process for community solar, small utility-scale solar, and energy storage projects
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure timely project execution and compliance
- Develop and maintain project timelines, milestones, and deadlines
- Navigate and address regulatory and compliance requirements for DER projects
- Evaluate utility impact studies and provide feedback on system upgrades, project design, and costs
- Prepare interconnection applications in accordance with ISO RTO regulations
- Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders to facilitate project success
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with interconnection projects
- Stay informed on emerging technologies and industry best practices in electrical distribution and grid integration
Requirements
- A minimum of 4 years of relevant engineering experience including renewable energy design, project management, and interconnection tariff structures.
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience in managing distribution interconnection projects, preferably in the renewable energy sector.
- Strong understanding of electrical distribution systems, grid integration, and relevant industry standards.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and compliance processes for Distributed Energy Resources (DER) projects.
- Exceptional project management skills, including leading cross-functional teams and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective stakeholder engagement.
- Problem-solving mindset and the ability to think strategically to overcome technical and regulatory challenges.
- Demonstrated commitment to sustainability and renewable energy initiatives.
- Demonstrated agility and flexibility as business needs and priorities shift.
