The role involves managing trademark portfolios, supporting brand protection efforts, and collaborating with marketing and sales teams to safeguard intellectual property rights in a fast-paced, innovative tech environment.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and maintain the trademark docket, including recording historic mark clearances and tracking company uses
Support trademark prosecution efforts by collecting use-based evidence and managing filings with USPTO and other authorities
Oversee outside counsel, monitor their performance, and manage legal spend
Monitor marketplace activities and industry trends to protect IP rights
Review marketing collateral and provide legal support for promotional activities and contests
Serve as a primary contact for brand protection queries and internal teams
Track enforcement actions such as letters of protest, oppositions, and cancellations
Requirements
6 to 9 years of experience as a trademark and brand protection paralegal.
Experience preparing USPTO Trademark filings, including initial filings, responses to office actions, letters of protest, and oppositions at the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB).
Experience with managing trademark docketing for large companies.
Familiarity with Madrid Protocol and national trademark filing strategies.
Familiarity with trademark search strategies and elementary risk assessments.
Experience working in high-pace, high-ownership environments where legal guidance is limited.
Must be comfortable working cross-functionally with Legal, Marketing, and Sales teams.
Ability to support outside counsel by overseeing outside counsel spend and evaluating performance metrics.
Ability to review trademark watch notices and track internal decisions pursuing enforcement actions such as letters of protest, oppositions, or cancellations.
Ability to monitor marketplace activities to protect IP rights and track industry trends.
Experience reviewing marketing collateral consistent with FTC Endorsement Guides and technology industry standards.
Proficiency in using Google Workspace, Slack, Compumark Watch, Saegis, IPFolio, Asana project management, and Figma (or willingness to learn).
Interest in developing a strong knowledge base of Everpure products and services.
