Job Description

The Performance Benchmarking Program Manager leads and manages the organization's benchmarking efforts for enterprise storage solutions, driving competitive advantage through industry-standard performance tests, collaborating with engineering and marketing teams, and ensuring compliance and impactful external communication.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and scale the benchmarking organization to deliver formal industry benchmarks across storage domains.
Establish and execute global benchmark strategies and submission timelines aligned with product launches and competitive goals.
Implement engineering best practices and standardized procedures for benchmark execution and data analysis within domain-specific teams.
Partner with engineering and product teams to optimize performance results for public benchmarks.
Ensure compliance, governance, and accurate public messaging by overseeing external performance claims and evidence validation.
Collaborate with marketing teams to translate benchmark data into marketable content, whitepapers, and sales materials.

Requirements

Extensive experience in storage performance benchmarking with a demonstrated track record of successfully driving public, compliant submissions such as SPEC, IO500, MLPerf, and SPC.
Proven Program Product Management leadership focused on instituting rigorous performance benchmark standards, operating procedures, and engineering discipline in a fast-paced environment.
Direct experience interfacing with external benchmark organizations and technical communities such as SPEC, IO500, and MLCommons to define, drive, and programmatically participate in council activities.
Exceptional communication and storytelling ability with a proven capability to deliver engaging technical presentations and articulate complex performance insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Strong analytical and data-driven skills including proficiency in using data analysis and visualization tools to diagnose results, explain performance deltas, and steer product direction.
Ability to establish and execute the global benchmark strategy and submission calendar (e.g., SPECstorage, IO500, MLPerf) to align with product launch timelines and competitive goals.
Experience scaling and leading domain-specific teams (e.g., File NAS, HPC, ML) to implement engineering best practices and standardized operating procedures for benchmark execution and data analysis.
Ability to partner with Platform Engineering and Product leaders to secure timely tuning and optimizations that ensure top-tier public benchmark results.
Experience owning compliance, governance, and public messaging by chairing go/no-go reviews with Legal and Brand teams on all external performance claims, ensuring traceable evidence and correct trademark usage.
Experience converting technical results into market value by collaborating with Technical Marketing to transform benchmark data and insights into compelling external content, whitepapers, and sales enablement materials.
Willingness and ability to work primarily in an in-office environment at the Santa Clara office in compliance with company policies.

Salary range: $199,000 - $299,000 USD
