Job Description
A Senior Pre-Sales Systems Engineer at Pure Storage is responsible for understanding customer needs, demonstrating technical solutions, and supporting sales efforts in the data storage industry, with a focus on storage architectures, cloud integration, and customer engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Understand customer business needs and tailor storage solutions accordingly
- Collaborate with sales teams and partners to drive revenue and customer success
- Lead technical evaluations, benchmarks, and system configurations for storage products
- Create and deliver technical presentations to demonstrate product value
- Translate customer requirements into innovative storage solutions to support growth
- Identify and pursue new opportunities for interoperability and performance validation
- Support the development of technical marketing materials and stay current with industry trends
Requirements
- Pre-sales experience is required with 5 or more years of relevant experience in technology, design, and communications.
- Experience supporting the sales of enterprise storage, networking, systems, cloud, or software to enterprise accounts is preferred.
- Deep understanding of the architecture, design, and implementation of multi-tiered client-server and web-based computing solutions.
- Must have a familiarity with modern web architecture such as the LAMP stack, scale-out vs scale-up architectures, AWS well-architected framework, microservices architecture (plus if applicable).
- Prior experience in targeting new prospects and converting them into clients.
- Contribute significant portions and/or lead responses to RFPs, RFQs, and RFIs.
- Superior knowledge of current and emerging storage architectures including FC, iSCSI, NAS, OSD, SAN.
- Previous experience with Linux, NFS file systems, and Linux distributed network environment.
- Experience with installation and configuration of distributed computing, multiprocessing, virtual memory subsystem, storage subsystems architecture, shared memory architectures, cache architectures, and windowing systems.
- Strong knowledge of digital transformation to a Cloud Native architecture, On-Premises, Public Cloud, Provisioning Automation, and Containers.
- Knowledge of VMware, Local Area Networking, Ethernet, TCP/IP, and general networking.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, GCP, containers, Kubernetes (k8s), and microservices architectures (plus if applicable).
- Curiosity and passion for technology and explaining/showing new technology platforms and concepts to customers.
- Familiarity with storage-intensive applications and their requirements such as structured databases like SQL and Oracle (highly desirable).
- Excellent verbal and written interpersonal skills.
- Candidates with SLED (State, Local, Education) experience may be given preference.
