A Senior Hardware Design Engineer responsible for designing, qualifying, and troubleshooting high-performance storage hardware solutions for hyperscale customers, collaborating across teams to ensure robust and efficient product development.
Key Responsibilities
Lead hardware design, documentation, validation, and qualification of storage hardware for hyperscale customers
Troubleshoot and debug hardware issues, perform failure analysis, and support system hardening
Develop, implement, and automate hardware validation and qualification tests
Collaborate with engineering, operations, manufacturing, and support teams to integrate storage sub-systems into platforms
Requirements
Proven experience in hardware design, x86 architectures, and related interfaces, including qualifying hardware at the electrical, signal integrity, protocol, and functional levels.
Experience in planning, implementing, and automating hardware qualification processes, including selecting x86 subcomponents, NVMe drives, and power supplies.
Strong understanding of major bus technologies such as PCIe, UPI, XGMI, Ethernet, and proficiency with high-speed oscilloscopes and bus analyzers to perform trace capture and analysis.
Strong experience with scripting languages like Python and BASH for test development and workflow automation.
Ability to lead hardware design and qualification efforts, including electrical design, documentation, validation, and qualification of hardware for storage sub-systems and platforms.
Experience troubleshooting and debugging testbeds, internal hardware issues, and external escalations, performing failure and root cause analysis to support system hardening and customer needs.
Ability to define, implement, and automate hardware validation and qualification tests, and to improve design and qualification processes for efficiency, consistency, and product robustness.
Excellent collaboration skills to work cross-functionally with engineering, operations, manufacturing, and support teams to integrate new storage sub-systems into existing and new platforms, guiding them to production.
Educational background or equivalent experience in a relevant technical field (implied by the need for technical expertise, though not explicitly specified).
Willingness to work onsite at the Santa Clara, CA office in accordance with company policies.
